The development of the SwitchBlade began in 2003 and has changed the way wake-sport riders have looked at wake enhancing systems. Wake enhancing once meant adding weight to the boat by over loading it with ballast and or people. With the safety of boaters in mind we created the SwitchBlade as an alternative for less ballast.
It all began when co-inventor Tom Earl of Cape Coral, FL wanted to take his son wakeboarding behind his 1984 Ski Supreme. Since the Ski Supreme was originally developed for 3 event skiing, it did not produce the wake needed for wake-boarding. Tom, having knowledge of hydrodynamics, developed the first prototype, which turned his boat into a wake boarding boat.
Joe Zsido owner of Custom Stainless Steel, Inc and has spent his career working with the development of Stainless Steel and Aluminum marine products. Combining Tom’s ideas and Joe’s knowledge of metal fabrication and engineering of boats they formed a partnership that brought the SwitchBlade Wake Enhancement System to life. Thirteen years later they are now working on the 3rd generation of the SwitchBlade, continuing to take wake sports to the next level.
